Ben Osborn’s performance against Reading has seriously split opinions in the fanbase.
While some are calling for Jack Robinson to be selected ahead of the 24-year-old for the next league game, others backed the left-sided player to keep his place and build on his display against the Royals.
Fans on Twitter gave very different views on our no.11’s performance:
He was out of his depth yesterday. We have better players now.Want promotion then deal with the tough decisions.Ben Osborn is targeted because he’s a weak link. Robinson will make left back his own and there’s no place for Osborn in midfield because we have better players #NFFC

Got to be honest… Osborn was terrible at LB today. Lost the ball to easily, got skinned to many times and was out of position too much. Robinson has to start next league match #nffc

Thought he was poor first half but played two of the best through balls. Second half was a lot better and found it amusing that Robinson came on to replace Lolley. I bet you Osborn haters were fuming. #NFFC

"This week we'll mostly be moaning about Ben Osborn" #nffc pic.twitter.com/vvsWDNEjZ7

I'll never understand the Osborn hate at all. You don't have like five different managers wanting to play you every week if you don't have something.
He's not a defensive player as such but that side of his game is improving game by game, perfect fit for a wing back role. #nffc

Osborn was named in the Whoscored.com Championship Team of the Week which prompted more debate:
Benny Osborn just keeps producing. Man-marked Adama Traore & Jota out of games last season. He was superb back end of last season & just carried on this #nffc https://t.co/RV1aE628ab

Fans still slagged off Ben Osborn yet he made team of the week #nffc

There’s no doubting that Ben is a makeshift left-back. His strengths lie further up the pitch, and he was caught out on a number of occasions positionally on Saturday.
With all that being said though, we still came out with a clean sheet, and while there is a case to be made for bringing in Robinson, I think Aitor Karanka will keep faith with the player for the next league encounter versus Wigan.
It will be interesting to see how the Spaniard changes things up against Bury tomorrow though.
