Thomas Lam is poised to join Eredivisie club PEC Zwolle with the Finnish international “set to complete” the deal very shortly, according to the Nottingham Post.
The 24-year-old actually signed from the Dutch club on a free transfer back in 2016, and his return to the Netherlands comes off the back of a season on loan in the country with FC Twente.
Lam was behind a number of players in the pecking order at the City Ground with Tobias Figueiredo, Danny Fox, Michael Dawson, Michael Hefele and Joe Worrall all ahead of him in the battle for centre-back spots.
Since arriving at the club, the Finnish defender has played just 21 games in all competitions, and his last appearance came all the way back in February 2017, when he played as a holding midfielder in the 5-1 defeat to Norwich City.
The centre-half did impress Aitor Karanka during pre-season but the manager has been very keen to trim the squad after 13 summer arrivals.
