Opinion: Two players Nottingham Forest could consider to replace Tendayi Darikwa

|

Tendayi Darikwa has been linked with a move away from Nottingham Forest this summer and may need replacing. Vital Forest named three available right-backs who may be options if the 27-year-old is sold, but could Sabri Lamouchi consider an internal solution?

The Forest manager is willing to use players from the Nigel Doughty Academy to fill parts of the squad next season – Joe Worrall (2011-2016), Ryan Yates (2005-2016), Tyler Walker (2006-2015) and Arvin Appiah (2010-2018). But does that mean the likes of Jayden Richardson could also get a chance?

The 18-year-old signed his first professional contract in April and has been a regular for the u23s. His form at youth level was impressive enough to earn the contract, but whether Lamouchi is looking at him that closely remains to be seen. One player he may be considering at right-back is Matty Cash.

The 21-year-old operated as a makeshift right wing-back at times last season and this summer, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see him line up in on the right in 2019/20. If Forest sell Darikwa and can’t bring in their ideal replacement, Cash might be forced to take up the position, with Richardson as a backup.
