Nottingham Forest were linked with a move for Antonio Raillo in January and reports from El Mundo (h/t Sport Witness) suggest the Reds could return for the 27-year-old this summer. However, Forest are overstocked with centre-backs and wouldn’t have any space in the first-team for another defender.

Sabri Lamouchi has Michael Dawson, Tobias Figueiredo, Yohan Benalouane, Michael Hefele, Joe Worrall, Jack Robinson and Alexander Milosevic at his disposal and doesn’t need more competition for places. Raillo could be available for only £3.6m, but Forest are unlikely to sign him.

The uncapped Spaniard has made 104 appearances in all competitions since joining RCD Mallorca from Espanyol in 2016, scoring five goals. He’s vastly experienced but wouldn’t significantly improve the Forest defence given how many players Lamouchi has to choose from.

When the Reds were suffering a crisis at the back last season – with Dawson, Figueiredo & Hefele suffering long-term injuries – it made sense that Forest were lining up replacements. The East Midlands club brought in Milosevic, Molla Wague (on loan) and Benalouane, and now have seven players battling for two places in the squad – Worrall returned to the first-team after his loan spell at Rangers last season.
