Nottingham Forest confirmed in July 2018 that they have the option to sign Jack Colback on a permanent deal when his loan at the City Ground comes to an end in June. The 29-year-old will be out of contract at Newcastle when the season comes to a close and Forest could be chief beneficiaries.

Colback made enough of an impression during his initial loan move to Forest in January 2018 to be re-signed the following summer. And his second stint in the Midlands has also gone well enough for Forest to consider exercising the buying option in his contract. Fans are desperate to keep him.

The uncapped English midfielder played for Sunderland and Ipswich Town in his earlier years and brings a wealth of experience to the engine room. This season, Colback has made 25 Championship appearances, forging a formidable partnership alongside Claudio Yacob.

Forest’s final game of the season will be against Bolton Wanderers on May 5. Colback’s loan contract runs until May 31. The summer transfer window opens in early June which is when the midfielder could be confirmed as a permanent Forest player, but there will be a lot of negotiations before that happens.
