After Apostolos Vellios and Hillal Soudani left Nottingham Forest, Martin O’Neill could be on the hunt for a centre-forward. The Reds brought in Sammy Ameobi on a free transfer and should consider a move for Fraizer Campbell. The 31-year-old is out of contract at Hull City and could be on the move if he doesn’t sign a new deal.
Campbell impressed for the Tigers last season, scoring (12) and creating (6)18 goals in 39 Championship games. He would greatly improve the Forest side, but whether he would consider switching Hull for the Reds remains to be seen. O’Neill has Lewis Grabban, Tyler Walker, Daryl Murphy and Karim Ansarifard to choose from up front, but Forest could benefit from another prolific scorer.
The England international has Premier League pedigree too, having made 150 appearances in the past. He’s played for Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland, Cardiff City and Crystal Palace and is coming off the back of a prolific campaign in the Championship.
Campbell is exactly the type of player Forest need for a top-six push next season, but they’ll have to hope Hull don’t tie him down a new deal this summer. The two parties are currently in talks.
