Opinion: Nottingham Forest should sign £23k-per-week Everton man

|

With Nottingham Forest being linked with Martin Olsson and Caner Cavlan, it appears Martin O’Neill wants to sign a new left-back this summer.

Nottingham Forest have Jack Robinson and Ben Osborn who can play in the role, but Robinson has been used as a left-sided centre-back while Osborn is a midfielder. As a result, the Reds may need at least one new left-back at the City Ground and Brendan Galloway might be the ideal signing.

The £23k-per-week defender joined Everton from MK Dons in 2014 and has gone on to make 21 appearances, the last of which came against Carlisle United in the FA Cup on January 31, 2016. Galloway currently finds himself behind Lucas Digne and Leighton Baines under Marco Silva and may be open to leaving for more first-team opportunities.

Galloway has struggled for playing time at Goodison Park and was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion (August 22, 2016 – April 9, 2017) and Sunderland (July 5, 2017 – May 31, 2018) to continue playing competitive football. There’s no reason why he wouldn’t consider a move to Forest, but whether the 23-year-old is on their radar this summer remains to be seen.
