Opinion: Nottingham Forest should sign 22-year-old in January to end goal drought

|

Nottingham Forest have been struggling for goals in recent weeks, failing to score in four of their last five games in all competitions. New manager Martin O’Neill desperately needs to inject goals back into the side and might look at the transfer market to fix Forest’s problem as their existing players are all collectively underperforming.

Lewis Grabban has gone seven games without rippling the back of the net, Joe Lolley has contributed just one goal in 10, Gil Dias hasn’t scored or made an assist in the league all season and Joao Carvalho has gone eight games without scoring or creating a goal. Forest could benefit from a forward who can create chances for teammates as well as burying his own opportunities and Portsmouth’s Ronan Curtis might fit the bill perfectly.

The Irish international has scored nine goals and made 11 assists in 26 League One games this season, but he may be a difficult player to convince to the City Ground. According to TEAMtalk, Curtis has attracted interest from Leeds United, Leicester City, Sheffield United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Middlesbrough and Derby County, so Forest have their work cut out trying to procure the 22-year-old’s signature.

Nevertheless, Curtis would be a brilliant addition to an important Forest side, but it’s unknown if an official move will follow.
