John Bostock will be hoping to make an impact on the training ground ahead of Nottingham Forest’s meeting with Wigan Athletic on Sunday. The 27-year-old has made just three appearances in all competitions since joining on loan from Toulouse, the last of which came in August.
Sabri Lamouchi has preferred Ben Watson & Samba Sow in midfield this season while Alfa Semedo & Tiago Silva are ahead of Bostock in the pecking order too.
Bostock made his Forest debut in the EFL Cup first round, playing a full 90 minutes in a 1-0 win at home to Fleetwood Town (August 13). His Championship debut for the Reds came eight days later at Charlton Athletic (August 21). The midfielder played for 26 minutes in 1-1 draw.
His last appearance was in the EFL Cup second round on August 27. Bostock played a full 90 minutes as Forest beat Derby 3-0. The 27-year-old was then left out in Forest’s 1-1 draw with Preston North End (August 31) before the international break.
After being an unused substitute in the 1-0 wins over Swansea (September 14) & Barnsley (September 21), Bostock was omitted from the squad entirely in the 3-2 win over Stoke City (September 27) due to injury before returning to the bench in the Reds’ 1-0 wins over Blackburn Rovers (October 1) and Brentford (October 5).
He’s had just 206 minutes of football and faces a tough task to get himself a start under Lamouchi given the side are winning in his absence. Time will tell if that changes.
