Nottingham Forest have made no secret of their desire to sign Jack Colback, and the player has admitted that his time at Newcastle could be over this summer. Martin O’Neill previously revealed he’ll be holding talks with players to discuss their respect futures and the Northern Echo say a move for Colback is expected in the coming weeks.
Chronicle Live say the 29-year-old has an asking price of £2m while Spotrac say Colback earns £1.8m-a-year/£35k-per-week. Nottingham Forest can certainly afford him and will be working hard over the summer to procure his signature. The Englishman has been outstanding at the City Ground and has previously admitted that he’s open to staying at Forest next season.
Colback is one of best ball-winners in the Championship, with only Massimo Luongo (123) and Joe Allen (121) making more tackles than the midfielder (120) who also boasts 55 interceptions too. He’s been one of Forest’s most consistent performers over the course of the season and could be key to the Reds’ push for promotion in 2019/20.
Given Colback was so willing to return to the City Ground last summer after spending half of 2017/18 in the East Midlands, Forest should feel confident of signing him permanently.
