Opinion: Nottingham Forest man has fallen down the pecking order under Sabri Lamouchi

Alexander Milosevic may have an uncertain future at Nottingham Forest after falling down the pecking order under Sabri Lamouchi. He’s been pictured training with the first-team for a number of weeks but is never selected in the squad on matchdays.

The 27-year-old hasn’t played a single minute of football in any competition this season and has been in the matchday squad just once for his troubles – Fleetwood Town (EFL Cup) on August 13.

Milosevic is currently behind Michael Dawson, Joe Worrall, Jack Robinson and Tobias Figueiredo in the centre-back pecking order. Michael Hefele and Yohan Benalouane are also options for Lamouchi, but the pair are currently injured.

Forest have started the 2019/20 campaign strongly. The Reds are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, boasting four wins and three draws. Lamouchi’s men recently sealed their place in the third round of the EFL Cup and are currently 10th in the Championship with a five-game unbeaten streak.

In their last seven matches, the East Midlands outfit have conceded less than a goal-a-game on average, so Lamouchi is unlikely to change his defence around. Milosevic is out of contract in 2020 and could be considering a move in January if he continues to be on the periphery in the coming months.
