Opinion: Midfielder has uncertain future at Nottm Forest, manager treatment to blame

|

John Bostock has struggled for playing time at Nottingham Forest due to the stiff competition for places and may be considering his future when the January transfer window opens.

The 27-year-old left Toulouse on a temporary basis in order to get regular minutes in the Championship, but he’s found himself in a similar predicament in the East Midlands and may have to try another side in 2020 if he remains on the periphery.

Sabri Lamouchi has preferred Ben Watson and Samba Sow in midfield which has meant the likes of Bostock, Alfa Semedo and Tiago Silva have had to be patient for opportunities. Bostock has made three appearances this season, but only one of them has come in the Championship.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man has led a nomadic career, playing for the likes of Crystal Palace, Brentford (loan), Hull City (loan), Sheffield Wednesday (loan), Swindow Town (loan), Toronto FC (loan), Royal Antwerp, OH Leuven, RC Lens and Bursaspor before joining Toulouse in 2018.

Bostock made 20 appearances for the French outfit last season but started only 10 of 38 league games which led to him moving on over the summer. Unfortunately, he’s now on the periphery back in England and risks wasting the season if he remains at the City Ground.
