Ipswich Town were reportedly keen on Liam Bridcutt’s signature in December, but little progress has been made weeks later. The Scottish international has struggled for playing time with Nottingham Forest this season and could be open to a move away if a bid comes his way.
Bridcutt joined Forest from Leeds United in 2017 and has gone on to make 31 appearances in all competitions. The 29-year-old has spent this season on the periphery, however, as he’s been behind Ben Watson, Adlene Guedioura, Claudio Yacob and Jack Colback in the pecking order.
It would appear all parties would be open for the midfielder to move on in January, but Ipswich haven’t stepped up their interest, nor has Bridcutt had any other concrete offers elsewhere. With Forest recently appointing Martin O’Neill to replace Aitor Karanka, there’s a chance Bridcutt could be in for a reprieve.
The new Reds boss may want to look at his entire squad before sanctioning the move of players, so Bridcutt’s future may not be so clear cut. Forest aren’t short of options in the engine room, but the 29-year-old might be given time to prove his worth before being potentially shipped out.
