Well, looks like it’s been a pretty busy day at the City Ground, but at least they’re doing it now rather than transfer deadline day.

It makes it ever so slightly easier to keep up with things.

So whilst there has been a departure from the club in the form of Jack Robinson who has joined Sheffield United, the club also confirmed the first signing of the window, with Adam Diakhaby joining the club on loan for the rest of the season from Huddersfield Town.

I wrote yesterday when reports first picked up steam that he was going to sign with us that I felt that his ability on the wing might allow us to push someone like Sammy Ameobi inside and use him as the backup for Lewis Grabban, however if Sabri Lamouchi can’t find a proper backup option in the form of an out and out centre-forward to take the load off, I think it’s possible that Diakhaby might have to pull double duty as it were and fill in for Grabban on occasion.

If you take a look at his career history, you can see that whilst he has played most often out wide, either on the right or left-wing, he also has a history of playing as a centre-forward, and has been pretty productive there as well, scoring five goals and chipping in with two assists.

And that flexibility is arguably going to be the biggest positive when it comes to his time at the City Ground, because whilst he will probably be starting opposite Joe Lolley on the other wing, Forest do have a number of other wingers at their disposal, most notably Albert Adomah and the aforementioned Ameobi.

So if Lamouchi wants to get the balance right when it comes to making sure everyone gets their fair share of minutes, whilst also giving Grabban his bit of rest that he has been crying out for all season, then Diakhaby might be an incredibly busy man between now and the end of the season.
