It is certainly one of the more bizarre transfer rumours that I have heard of this window, and indeed for some time.

It certainly would be a bit of a leap in terms of the league he’d be going from and the league he’s going to, but if Edgar Davids can sign for Barnet, then I suppose it isn’t really out of the realms of possibility that this sort of deal could happen.

According to a report in The Athletic, A.C. Milan have tabled a £15m bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder come right-back Matty Cash. The report notes that Forest are unlikely to entertain any bids for him, because of his form on the pitch as well as not being under any pressure to do so from Financial Fair Play.

Whilst I did say a number of months ago that the club should consider selling Cash to help build funds for this window, I believe that we have reached a point of no return when it comes to both his and Forest’s season, however it should act as a warning to the hierarchy at the club, that it could be now or never to get promoted.

With clubs starting to circle around top young players like Cash and Joe Worrall, we might not be in a position to hold onto them for much longer if the club doesn’t reach the Premier League this season.

Whilst there might be some players that could be around for a promotion push next season, there are a number that might not be fortunate enough to be along for the ride. That’s when we start getting into the territory of having to sell players off in order to stay afloat

That’s why the club need to get their decisions in the January transfer window 100% spot on. One slip up and not only does the club risk not being promoted this season, but they also risk having to sell off a number of players that could be crucial to a promotion push in 2020/21.

How many signings will Forest make this window?

1-3

1-3

4+

And then we’re essentially back to square one.
