Zach Clough could be on his way out of Nottingham Forest this summer with the forward falling down the pecking order at the City Ground. Clough has spent the season on loan at Rochdale, but his stint at the Spotland Stadium hasn’t gone to plan.

The 24-year-old has struggled for playing time at Rochdale and could have an uncertain future back at Forest as he’s racked up less than 700 minutes of football in the last two years. His temporary switch to Dale was an opportunity to find some form, but Clough has hardly featured.

This season, the Englishman has made only 13 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating two goals. Clough has amassed 540 minutes of playing time for Rochdale and has made just four appearances since the turn of the year. He’s started just one game in 2019 too.

Clough still has two years remaining on his contract at Forest, but it’s hard to see him staying past the summer. The 24-year-old has scored four goals in 31 games for the Reds and is surplus to requirements. If Clough can’t perform in League One, does he stand much of a chance in the Championship?
