Given the volume of transfers that we’ve completed in the transfer window, it’s only natural to expect departures. The latest player that has left the City Ground is Barrie McKay.

As was officially confirmed today, Barri McKay has left the club and has joined Swansea City for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old departs only a year after he joined Forest from Rangers.  In his first and only season with us, the Scotsman amassed 26 appearances, scoring an acceptable total of five goals.

Given the fact that the likes of Dias and Carvalho have joined the club, the winger’s involvement would have been significantly reduced had he opted to stay this season.

Here’s how Forest supporters responded to his departure on Twitter.

Verdict:

As the Forest supporters established on Twitter, McKay is unequivocally talented, but he was far too inconsistent, which is a real shame. Had he been able to correct his mentality and perform to the best of his abilities on a consistent basis, then he could have become a truly special player.
