Former Doncaster Rovers and Southampton midfielder Simon Gillett has signed a two year deal with Nottingham Forest.
Gillett has teamed up once again with his former boss at Donny, Sean O’Driscoll and joins the Reds’ as a free agent, after his contract expired with Rovers at the end of the last campaign.
The 26 year old had been training with Portsmouth over the summer and was expected to make a move there. He was an ever present in the Donny side that was relegated to League 1 last season, but was voted by the local press as the clubs’ Player of the Season.
Forest chairman Omar Al-Hasawi said on the clubs’ official website. ‘Simon is a player that Sean knows well from his Doncaster days and we are delighted to welcome him to the Club.’ Welcome to the City Ground Simon Gillett.
