Official: Nottingham Forest signing named Player of the Month for September

|

Nottingham Forest confirm that Brice Samba has been named Player of the Month after a series of impressive performances in September. The 25-year-old has been solid between the sticks ever since he joined from SM Caen and has heavily contributed to the Reds’ bright start to the season.

Forest are currently second in the Championship with 22 points from 11 games, having conceded just nine goals for their troubles. The Reds have the second-best defensive record and have kept four clean sheets so far. Sabri Lamouchi’s men have shut out three of their last five opponents in the second tier and have conceded one or less goals in 82% of their league games.

Samba has made nine appearances in all competitions for Forest, conceding five goals. The Frenchman replaced the out-of-form Arijanet Muric in late-August and has been outstanding ever since. Eyebrows were raised when the Reds were linked with Samba, as he’d have competition from Muric, Costel Pantilimon, Luke Steele and Jordan Smith, but fans can’t believe their luck now.

The 25-year-old is now being regarded as one of Forest’s best goalkeepers.
