Official: Jayden Richardson loan update

|

Jayden Richardson joined Exeter City on a season-long loan in mid-August, but the 19-year-old has struggled for playing time in recent weeks. Richardson has made only two appearances from a possible five since his move from Nottingham Forest but has only amassed 72 minutes of League Two football and can’t get into the starting lineup of late.

The right-back missed Exeter’s 1-1 draw with Swindon Town on August 17 as he’d only signed a day previously, but Matt Taylor handed Richardson his full debut against Oldham Athletic just three days later. He was given 65 minutes before being replaced by Jake Taylor as Exeter played out a 0-0 draw at Boundary Park.

Richardson was dropped in City’s 3-2 win at Morecambe (August 24) but did come off the bench with seven minutes remaining. Unfortunately, that was his last league outing for the Grecians. The 19-year-old was an unused substitute in Exeter’s 1-0 win over Mansfield Town (August 31) and 3-1 win over Carlisle United (September 7).

City are currently top of League Two with 17 points in seven games and are enjoying an unbeaten start to the campaign.

Outside of the league, Richardson has featured in the EFL Trophy against Cheltenham Town on September 3. Taylor gave the defender a full 90 minutes in their 1-0 win, but he appears to be behind Pierce Sweeney in the pecking order for the most part.
