Official: Card-happy referee confirmed for Nottingham Forest’s clash with Derby County

The EFL have confirmed that Robert Jones will be the match official for Nottingham Forest’s clash with Derby County on Monday, February 25. Shaun Hudson and Graham Kane will be assistant referees while Andrew Madley will be the fourth official.

Jones has refereed 22 Championship games this season, handing out 75 yellow cards, two red cards and four penalties. He’s also officiated in the EFL Trophy (one game), League One (one game), the FA Cup (one game) and EFL Cup (three games).

He’s been the referee for three Derby games this season – vs Reading (August 3, 2018), vs West Bromwich Albion (October 24), vs Middlesbrough (January 1, 2019). Jones has also officiated three Forest games – vs Rotherham United (September 22, 2018), vs Aston Villa (November 28), vs Brentford (February 9, 2019).

In the three Forest games Jones has refereed, he’s handed out 13 yellow cards, one red card and three penalties. For Derby, he’s doled out 12 bookings. The Midlands derby is always a fierce outing, so Jones could be a busy man on Monday night.

Forest could move within a point of their rivals in the table with a win.
