Nottingham Forest face a potentially vital game in the course of their season on Sunday afternoon, as they travel to Oakwell to face Barnsley.

Going into the weekend, Forest know that victory against Gerhard Struber’s struggling side would guarantee them a place in the play-offs – and chance of promotion to the Premier League – this season, although their top-six place will be guaranteed regardless, if Millwall and Swansea fail to win on Saturday.

Even so, with Sabri Lamouchi’s side having won just four of their last 15 league games, a repeat of their 1-0 win over Barnsley at The City Ground back in September would be a welcome sign of a return to form ahead of such a crucial period of the season.

It was Ben Watson who netted the winner that day, after being set up by Matty Cash at the end of a fantastic flowing team move.

Taking to Twitter to react to footage of that win posted by the club ahead of this weekend’s reverse fixture, plenty of Forest fans were keen to point out the part played in that game by Joao Carvalho, Forest’s number 10 who has started just seven times for Forest since that win, and only once in 2020.

Should Joao Carvalho be given another chance in the Forest side?

Indeed, with Forest on that somewhat underwhelming run at the minute, a number of those supporters were keen to suggest that the footage from that win over Barnsley is evidence that Carvalho deserves another chance in the side.

Here, we take a look at what some of those Forest fans had to say about the attacker.
