According to TEAMtalk, Nottingham Forest are one of four clubs interested in Macauley Bonne. The 23-year-old has been in fine form for Leyton Orient, scoring 14 goals in 20 National League games, and could be on the move as a result. Bonne is highly-rated and has the likes of Leeds United, Derby County and Norwich City joining Forest in the race for his signature.

The report states that all four Championship clubs are believed to have watched Bonne in action, although it’s unlikely that Forest will make an approach. Aitor Karanka has previously stated that he wants to trim the first-team squad rather than add to it, so January could see more players leaving than joining.

Forest recently signed Karim Ansarifard too, so the Reds have enough options in attack without Bonne. That’s not to say the Orient striker isn’t a good player. He’s netted 36 goals in 65 games and has played in the Football League previously with Colchester United. Bonne netted 15 goals in 84 games for the U’s before his move to Orient and now he’s enjoying the best form of his career.

Nevertheless, a striker doesn’t appear to be on Karanka’s January wishlist, so Leeds, Derby and Norwich may stand a better chance of signing him.
