Official: Byram and Appiah start against Sheff Wed, Martin O’Neill makes five changes

|

Luke Steele, Sam Byram, Ryan Yates, Jack Robinson and Arvin Appiah have been given the nod to start by Martin O’Neill against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday evening. The Nottingham Forest manager has made five changes from the side that lost to Rotherham United on Saturday and can’t afford anything less than three points in midweek to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Nottingham Forest travel to Hillsborough to face a Sheffield Wednesday side also fighting for a playoff place. The Owls could leapfrog their Midlands opponents with a win and may fancy their chances given how poor Forest have been away from home this season.

O’Neill’s men currently sit ninth in the Championship table with 57 points from 40 games, coming off the back of two defeats and a draw from their last four outings. Forest haven’t won an away game since November 2018 and find their hopes of achieving a top-six finish in tatters after their poor run of form.

As for the opposition, Wednesday find themselves three places and one point below Forest in the table. They recently suffered their first league defeat in 13 but still boast three wins from their last five home games so they’re no slouches.

With six games remaining, Forest are five points adrift of playoffs and have played a game more than sixth-placed Bristol City in the run-in. Nothing less than a win over Wednesday will do in their bid for promotion.
