To say it’s been a difficult week for those associated with Nottingham Forest is something on an understatement.

Having missed out on a seemingly guaranteed Championship play-off place after a final day 4-1 thrashing by Stoke at The City Ground, Forest now face the prospect of having to pick themselves up, and prepare to go again with such a short turnaround to the new season.

That however, is something the club’s squad now look to be getting ready to do, judging by the latest social media update from right-back Matty Cash.

Is Matty Cash your Forest Player of the Season?

Yes

No

Taking to Twitter for the first time since that final day capitulation, the 22-year-old, who emerged as a key player for Sabri Lamouchi’s side across the course of the campaign, spoke of reflecting on the events of the past week, and thanked the club’s fans for the support they have shown all season.

The defender then went on to stress the importance of moving on and staying positive ahead of the new season, one that he says will be “massive” for the club.

You do have to rather admire Cash for doing this in some way.

Breaking your silence in a manner that leaves you open to a strong response after such an extreme disappointment is never going to be easy, so you do have to credit Cash for fronting up and doing that here.

Indeed, it is encouraging to see that he is now thinking about next season with the club, highlighting his commitment to Forest even after such an impressive season for himself amidst this disappointment.
