Nottingham Forest could miss out on highly-rated striker, here’s why – opinion

|

Nottingham Forest had Lateef Omidiji Jr on trial earlier this season and are in the race for his signature, but the Reds could miss out of the striker due to the increased interest from other clubs.

Omidiji Jr plays for Go Ahead Eagles and is reportedly a target for Arsenal and West Ham United, so it’s hard to see Forest convincing the 15-year-old to snub Premier League interest for the City Ground.

According to Transfermarkt, Omidiji Jr played for Dordrecht Youth and Feyenoord Youth before joining the Eagles and could be on the move when he’s old enough to sign a professional contract.

The player has made no secret about his desire to play for a bigger European club in the future too, revealing in an interview with Pulse last year: “The dream is to have established myself here in Europe, play in the UCL and win trophies for both club and country.

“Those are the goals and targets and by God’s grace I’ll accomplish my goals.” The talented teenager is clearly open to leaving the Eagles, but whether he would pick Forest over the likes of Arsenal and West Ham remains to be seen.

Omidiji Jr might have a better chance of getting first-team football in the East Midlands, but the chance to join a Premier League outfit could be too good to turn down. He can only be registered as an academy player until he’s 17.
