Kris Commons put Conference South minnows Yeading to the sword with an explosive first-half hat-trick in a 5-0 win for Nottingham Forest at The City Ground.

And although two second-half strikes from Junior Agogo made it an emphatic victory for the League One leaders, Yeading battled all the way to keep the scoreline respectable.

Their hopes of a shock disappeared, however, once Commons had delivered the blitz that followed his two goals against Brentford in Forest’s last game.

He opened the scoring after 18 minutes with a superbly-struck 35-yard strike that flew into the top corner of Mark Cousins’ net.

In the 31st minute he rounded off a fluent Forest move by flighting a delightful effort over Cousins into the top corner and made it three on the stroke of half-time after Agogo’s shot had come back off the Yeading goalkeeper.

Agogo made it four in the 53rd minute when he converted a penalty after substitute Nathan Tyson had been brought down, and 10 minutes later Nicky Southall supplied the cross from which Agogo made it five.
