No Forest Deal For Konchesky Then?

The prolonged struggle at Nottingham Forest to find a solution to the vacant left back position looks set to rear it’s head again over the summer, if reports in today’s Sunday People are to be believed.

The paper says that the defender who is currently on loan with Forest from Liverpool, will be heading back to Fulham at the end of the season for as little as £1.5m. That’s a great piece of business for the London club, who sold him to the Scousers, for twice that amount only 7 months ago.

Konchesky will play his last game for Forest against Crystal Palace on the final day of the season, when his loan deal expires and will not be available for the Playoffs should we reach them. That will mean that we will have to rely on either Joel Lynch or Julian Bennett to fill the void.

Lynch has filled in at left back already this season, when he replaced Ryan Bertrand at the end of his loan spell from Chelsea. Whilst it has to be said that he did do OK, he is a centre half by trade and not an ideal long term prospect for the position. Julian Bennett has only played 13 minutes of football for us this season and prior to that, not at all in almost 2 years due to injury.
