Any ideas of another player I can spend all summer wishing Forest sign?
I knew this would happen if the club didn’t hurry up. It is officially the end of, what was a relatively short era. Sam Byram won’t be joining Nottingham Forest, at least for the foreseeable future, having signed this morning for Norwich City for a reported £750k.
Sam Byram spent the minority of last season on loan at the City Ground, and the majority of it on the injury table, having picked up a knee injury during Forest’s 3-1 win over Newcastle in the Carabao Cup back in August. There were rumours that Byram was a target for Forest, as a way of finishing what he started last season, although we don’t know if there was ever an official bid from the club.
Whilst naturally I’m disappointed that this deal didn’t come through, that sentiment hasn’t been felt by the some in the Nottingham Forest fan base. It seems that his injury history, not just his most recent one has put to bed any positivity they might have had over his playing ability. Many fans washed their hands of the whole affair, just resigning to the fact they were never going to compete with recently promoted Norwich’s funds.
No idea what the fuss is about Byram… Massivley injury prone, and barely played n recent years! Only 6 times for Forest last season and we remember getting frustrated how often he lost the ball!

Am I missing something Byram was good but people saying he was head and shoulders above our other players! I don’t think darikwa was far behind him darikwa when in form and is confidence is high can have brilliant games imo #nffc

Can we all just shut up about Byram now? #nffc

Shame #NFFC couldn’t get Byram. 750k is a bargain! Unfortunately we’re always going to struggle when newly promoted teams or parachute payment teams are interested. Makes it difficult to compete for some players particularly with regard to wage demands.

We haven’t “missed a trick” with Byram – its a simple case of him wanting PL football and/or PL wages. We wouldn’t have been able to compete on anything other than the transfer fee. #NFFC

Not gonna lie I gutted that #nffc did byram especially with him going for just 750k but you can’t turn down premier League football hopefully he has overcome all the injuries that has plagued his career so far pic.twitter.com/fq8QgzmCdD
