There was more good news today from the official site, with the announcement that Guy Moussi has agreed a new three year deal with the Reds’.

Moussi’s previous contract expired at the end of last season and whilst a new deal was offered, it was rumoured to be on lesser terms to the one he originally signed with the club. Thanks to an improved offer and the intervention of manager Steve McClaren, Moussi has today committed his future to the club for the next three years.

It was reported at the end of the last campaign that Premiership clubs Everton and Stoke had expressed an interest in the Frenchman, which in turn led to speculation about his imminent departure from the City Ground. The fact he didn’t leave, has to be thanks in no small way to McClaren himself, who flew out to France a fortnight ago, to try and persuade the player to re-sign for the Reds’.

Thankfully McClaren’s persuasive techniques paid off, resulting in Moussi penning a new deal today. Welcome home Guy Moussi.

  • Nice one Moussi. Glad he has signed up for 3 more years. Nice to see an out of contract player has not left for free and been signed up>
