Nottingham Forest midfielder Guy Moussi signed a new three year deal with the club this week, after being persuaded by new boss Steve McClaren that his future lay at the City Ground. It was rumoured before he signed his new deal, that Derby County were in for him, but the Frenchman has been keen to stress that there was no way he would have signed for them.

Moussi refused the orignal contract made to him at the end of last season and it looked odds on that he was on his way out of the club, with the Rams supposedly keen on taking him to Pride Park. That was until McClaren intervened and flew to France for a face to face meeting with Moussi and an improved offer for the tough tackling midfielder to consider.

Thankfully Moussi agreed a new deal and in the process gave a swift two fingered rebuttal to the Rams. He told Radio Nottingham. ‘I don’t want to be rude but I could not have gone to Derby. It was impossible. I had opportunities but I could not go to other Championship clubs.’
