Wes Morgan is inching towards fitness from the ankle injury that has kept him out of action for the last two games.

The Nottingham Forest defender suffered a recurrence of the problem, which has troubled him for much of the last two months, just two minutes after coming on in the Brentford game last month.

But manager Colin Calderwood revealed today: ‘Wes is improving day by day. Saturday’s game against Crewe might come a little bit too soon for him but he should be fully fit by next week.’

Morgan’s injury has led to him starting just one of Forest’s last eight games.
