The Evening Post reports that WBA left back Craig Dawson, is being targeted by Steve McClaren to fill the vacant left back spot at the City Ground.

Despite the fact that the 21 year old has only made 1 appearance for the Baggies since joining from Rochdale in 2010, he’s highly rated and chips in with more than his fair share of goals for a defender.

Dawson is also an England U21 international. He’s made 2 appearances for the U21’s and scored a brace on his debut last week against Azerbaijan.

The transfer loan window opens on Thursday and as we all know by now the club is under pressure to deliver from manager Steve McClaren. Whether anyone arrives in time for the game away to Southampton on Saturday remains to be seen, but if Dawson was one that did, then we could certainly do alot worse. Chelsea left back Ryan Bertrand is also still in the frame. Bertrand spent 6 months on loan with the Reds’ last season and has been linked with a return ever since.
