Millwall v Forest: Preview

Forest travel to struggling Millwall on Wednesday night in an effort to put their away day troubles behind them. It’s now 7 games since we had an away win and that run of form has to change if we have any thoughts of going up. The 2-1 defeat at Swindon, was the 4th away defeat of the season for the Reds and saw them slip out of an automatic promotion spot.

New Lions manager Kenny Jackett has a tough job on his hands with them sitting in the relegation zone. They currently sit 4th from bottom on 26 points and need a win as badly as we do. The home form for Millwall is inconsistent at best. Won 6, lost 6 and drawn 1, tells the story of why they sit in the drop zone. Scoring has been a problem, as they have a goal difference of -11, even with the mighty Neil Harris in the side! You just know he’s gonna score again. Harris is once again having a torrid time in front of goal. Having only scored once for the Lions all season.

Whilst Forest were losing at Swindon at the weekend, Millwall were sunk by a late goal from Tranmere that saw them lose 1-0. They were unlucky by all accounts and did enough in terms of chances created to have won the game. It might be a bit early for the phrase ‘must win game,’ but you do feel that anything less than the 3 points for Forest could see the panic button being hit.

Vital Quotes:

Millwall Team News:

Ahmet Brkovic and Alan Dunne are expected to miss the game through injury. Gary Alexander picked up a dead leg in the game with Tranmere, but is expected to be fit.

Player to watch: Neil Harris.

He couldn’t hit a barn door for the Reds, but he’s a hero at the Den and he did score the winner against us last year in the 1-0 defeat at their place. He’s after Teddy Sheringham’s all time scoring record for the club, but he’s going to have to do better than the 1 goal he’s got for the Lions so far this season to do that.

Nottingham Forest Team News:

Forest will be without Julian Bennett, as he sits out the game through suspension. Sammy Clingan should be available after missing the trip to Swindon with a slight calf strain. Wilson’s fit again and will hopefully be recalled, as is Nathan Tyson.

Player to watch: Nathan Tyson

He’s just recovered from his latest injury setback and the hotshot striker will be looking to add to the 7 goals he has so far.

Match Facts & Stats

The two sides have met 46 times in the league and the Lions have just about had the upper hand. Forest have won 15, lost 17 and drawn 14. Last season we were sunk by that Neil Harris goal, but at home we beat them 3-1.

Ref Watch:

Oh no, it’s Uriah Rennie!

Match Prediction:

2-1 to the good guys. Harris is bound to get one.
