Megson Set For Leicester Job

Gary Megson left Forest back in February 2006 and hasn’t worked since. He took over at the City Ground after Joe Kinnear left and lasted barely a year as Forest boss.

It’s probably not too unkind to say that Mr Megson was one of the most unpopular managers the City Ground has ever had. His brand of football was not to the liking of the purists on Trentside.

He was initially brought in here to stave off relegation to League 1. That was of course a failure, as was most of his tenure. In fairness to him though, he had some massive problems in the dressing room to deal with that were not necessarily of his doing. He even had to contend with someone posting teamsheets on the Internet. He did have an uphill battle.

It hasn’t all been bad for Megson though, he did have success with West Brom prior to joining us, leading them to two promotions to the Premiership. The move to Leicester City might be viewed as a strange one. Milan Mandaric is a tough Chairman to do business with and is his own man, much the same can be said about Megson. It will be interesting to watch in the coming months.

Forest fans won’t have to wait too long to get reacquainted with their former manager, as the Reds meet Leicester City next Tuesday in the Carling Cup. Should be interesting. It seems as though it may not be a popular appointment with all in Leicester, as this quote from the BBC shows. ‘Not Megson… please Milan no!!!’ (Cynicall_Sid)
