Long-term admirer, of course his former boss at Rangers too, Mark Warburton could be reunited with Barrie McKay at Nottingham Forest this summer, according to the Evening Times.

A number of players taken to Ibrox by Warburton have been offloaded, others could yet leave Rangers and McKay is expected to be one of them, which could result in his arrival at the City Ground.

Having turned down a contract extension at the Scottish Premiership club, Rangers will reportedly cash in on McKay, 22, this summer now that he’s fallen down the pecking order under Pedro Caixinha.

A switch to Forest is an easy link to make, given the Warburton previous, but wouldn’t be cut and dried as Cardiff are seen as a rival for the signature of the Scottish international winger.

Currently training with Rangers’ U20 side, left out of the Europa League qualification tie last week, McKay has a year on his current deal and is thought to be available for around £750,000.
