Forest midfielder Lewis McGugan came in for some harsh words last season from manager Billy Davies and at one point, even found himself dropped from the squad. But following his very public dressing down, it looks like our midfield maestro has seen sense and got himself back into shape.

Billy Davies slated McGugan back in March and claimed the player was overweight and unfit. He dropped him from the starting line up and even from the matchday squad at one stage, in effort to get his message home. Thankfully, it looks as so McGugan has taken Davies’ words to heart and has been working on shifting the pounds.

Davies told the BBC. ‘Lewis McGugan has lost a huge amount of weight and is looking very fit and ready, and very conditioned.’

That has to be great news for the fans and the club alike. McGugan had a poor season last year, by his standards and will be keen to live up to the promise he showed the previous season. There’s no doubting the ability he has and under the guidance of Davies, he might just develop into the player that many think he can be.
