There has so far been no official announcement from anyone at NFFC regarding the future of manager Steve McClaren, after the news broke last night that he was set to walk out on the club after just 3 months in charge.

BBC Radio 5 Live reports that club chairman Nigel Doughty and CEO Mark Arthur are meeting McClaren’s representative today, in an attempt to find a way forward and resolve the situation.

McClaren clearly feels he has been let down by the club, in terms of what he was promised by way of financial backing when he took the job back in June. Some will argue that he has supposedly been backed to the tune of £1.8m already, but that doesn’t take into account the monies received for the sale of Joe Garner, or the fact that the club released 8 members of the squad that finished last season.

It’s difficult to say what the outcome of this meeting will be and it’s unlikely we will hear anything before the weekend. If McClaren does decide he’s had enough, it will not only put severe pressure on those who run the club, but more importantly it will make it damn near impossible for them to recruit a decent replacement.

UPDATE: The club have just announced on the official site, that they are refusing to comment on media speculation surrounding the future of manager Steve McClaren.
