Steve McClaren took his first training session as Nottingham Forest manager at Wilford Lane today, as the squad returned for their first day of pre season training.

After putting the players through a gruelling workout, he told Sky Sports News that the squad rebuilding would take time and would not be completed in a day.

‘It’s evolution not revolution. We will build slowly. We will see what we’ve got, I think that is the key thing. So we will assess the squad first, and then we will build and grow on that.’

The new season gets underway in just 5 weeks time on August 6, when the Reds’ entertain Barnsley at home. Although McClaren and his backroom staff will have their work cut out to bolster the depleted squad that finished last season, the hard work is already underway with the addition of former City Ground favourite Andy Reid. The club has promised to back the new manager with quality additions and so long as they arrive in time for the August 6 KO, we should have little to complain about.
