Old rivalries are renewed this evening when Forest take on Nottingham rivals County in the Carling Cup at The City Ground.

Steve McClaren, as he told the official website, knows that Forest are the favourites but also knows that County have nothing to lose.

It is a game that he is looking forward to though and is waiting to see how his players handle the challenge: ‘I’m looking forward to it myself, looking forward to the atmosphere.

‘It’s a big, big game – a cup final for Notts County and for us it’s a game in which we have nothing to win and everything to lose.

‘We’re expected to win it, there’s a lot of pressure on us but we’ve got to handle that.

‘It’s big test for our players and I’m looking forward to seeing how we handle this situation – the pressure, the test and whether we come out on top.’

The Forest manager went on to talk about ‘mentality’ and being ‘physically strong’ in a game that is one: ‘you have to earn the right to play ? and that’s what we’ll have to do.’

18-years ago was the last time County came to The City Ground for a competitive fixture, and this 1st round league cup game will be one that most will remember tonight, for the right reasons Forest fans would hope!

This kicks-off at 7.45pm.
