Forest fans were delighted this week with the news that Liverpool young starlet Paul Anderson had signed a year long loan deal and picked the Reds’ ahead of offers from both Derby and Swansea.

But the Swansea manager Roberto Martinez is none too happy at the player giving him the brush off and opting to join us instead. The Spaniard told the BBC. ‘Everyone knows being grateful or loyalty in football does not exist anymore. We are proud to be involved in the development of a player that no-one wanted 12 months ago who now has six or seven choices. We are delighted how he adapted as we allowed him to enjoy his football, that’s why he has enjoyed a lot of interest from clubs this summer.’

Last week we all thought that Anderson was all set to re-sign for the Swans and Martinez himself did as well. He was even quoted as telling the Swansea faithful that the player said he wanted to join them. It came as a welcome surprise to hear that he’d joined the Reds’ and he will definitely be an asset.

It’s easy to see why Martinez would be so miffed, as Anderson was voted Young Player of the Year and quickly became a crowd favourite at the Liberty. His goals tally was pretty good as well, scoring 8 in 27 games, all from midfield. Is this just a case of sour grapes from the Spaniard, or does he have a valid point? Well if Swansea want to mix it with the big boys, then they will have to be a bit more competitive in the transfer market. Unfortunately, money talks as we’ve found out to our own cost this summer with the loss of Commons and Clingan.
