Head coach Paul Williams has started the media build up to Monday evening’s game against third place Brighton and Hove Albion.

Speaking to the Official Forest Site to give an injury update ahead of any further thoughts about Chris Hughton’s high flying side as they battle seriously for the automatic promotion spots in the Championship this season, he said that he could potentially welcome back Michael Mancienne and Kelvin Wilson to contention given how things stood on Thursday.

Mancienne, of course, sustained an ankle injury in last weekend’s disappointing loss to Brentford at Griffin Park, and his replacement, Wilson, for the Madejski Stadium trip on Tuesday evening to Reading also came off injured in the first half.

‘Michael`s been in the gym this morning working hard and we`re just taking it day by day. Hopefully he`ll be ready for Monday. Kelvin was on the massage table today – I think he`s still struggling with his back, so that`s something we`ll assess at the weekend.’

With Danny Fox being Wilson’s replacement, he came in for specific praise by Williams in this interview, saying he put in a ‘whole-hearted and honest performance’ so clearly he remains in mind should others not return.

As cover, youngster Joe Worrall – centre back – has also been recalled from his loan spell out with League Two Dagenham and Redbridge just in case.

‘With Michael and Kelvin`s injury doubts I thought it would be sensible to bring Joe back. He`s done really well at Dagenham and he`s come back a man. If he hadn`t gone on loan and had he only been playing under 21s football it would have been a bigger gap, but the fact he`s had that experience now and that he`s been focused and playing well at Dagenham means he can bridge the gap a bit better.’
