It may have taken 14 games, but Lucky Leeds United have been finally stopped in their tracks and derailed by way of a 3-1 thumping away at Carlisle in the match of the day for this division.

Jermaine Beckford gave Lucky Leeds the lead with a first half strike from 10 yards, but a great second half comeback not only gave the Cumbrians the points, but also top spot in League 1. I have to admit I had a childish chuckle to myself on seeing the result, as I still haven’t forgiven them for their smash and grab raid at the City Ground back in August. Lucky Leeds have slipped down to 9th.

Swansea had briefly held top spot after drawing 1-1 with lowly Gillingham on Friday night. By the time the rest had played their games though, the Swans slipped to 5th, level on points with us on 24 but with a game in hand. They missed a penalty as well and will definitely view the result as two points dropped. All good news for Forest, as Swansea are in a good run of form at the moment.

Tuesday’s opponents Sarfend had defender Adam Barrett to thank for the points. He grabbed a second half winner for the Shrimpers that sends them to 3rd place and continues their fine start to the season. It was their 4th win away from home.

Leyton Orient got back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Oldham and puts them in 2nd. The Mighty Reds won 2-0 over Tranny Rovers and sit in 4th, just 3 points off the pace setters with 24. Luton who can’t buy a win away from home, lost again on their travels. This time with a 3-1 defeat at Brighton.

Down at the bottom Bournemouth did themselves a power of good with a 2-0 win away to Brizzle Rovers. Cheltenham take bottom place from the Cherries, after losing 2-0 away at Walsall. The other sides in the drop zone lost as well, with Millwall going down 1-0 at home to Hartlepool and Port Vale losing 3-1 away at Hudds.

Tuesday night sees a full fixture list in League 1, so it could well be all change at the top. Still early days, but the table is beginning to look a little bit better from a Red perspective.
