He was certainly not the only poor performer on Saturday, but Gil Dias’s ineffectiveness on the ball for most of the game was seriously concerning.
So far, very few of the club’s summer signings have shown their true potential, and against Birmingham, the lack of quality would have seriously concerned Aitor Karanka.
Following the game, supporters on Twitter were not too pleased with the Portuguese midfielder’s display:
Regardless of getting a point we are a very poor team. Karnaka needs to sort this out fast. He’s had the majority of this team all summer and spent a fortune. Dias I’ve seen him in three games and he looks like a 200k player not a 20 million. #NFFC

One of the worst performances i have witnessed at home. Watson is finished. Dias is terrible. No better than last year and can see us losing next 3 Games #nffc

I’m still in disbelief as to how Gil Dias stayed on the pitch for the full 90 yesterday ???? #NFFC

soudani is best as a right forward but cashy is doing great in that role. Impact sub for the time being. At this rate Dias and Conclaves will be heading back at end of season. Hope they come good though #NFFC

13 million don’t get you much nowadays does it? Carvalho is honking and Dias is even worse #nffc

Others thought that there were worse culprits on the pitch:
I’m not one to slate players but Watson was very poor today #nffc …I hope I’m wrong but I feel he’s not up to it anymore? ????????

Worst game in a Forest shirt – shows how much we miss Geddy

Settling into a new league, especially the Championship, isn’t easy and it can be even harder when you are playing in a team with a number of players still bedding in.
However, with competition for places on the wings, Dias will have to do a lot better than he has done so far. He may be on loan from Monaco for the rest of the season, but he will have to improve if he wants to stay for the long-term.
