Mathew Lockwood has today ended his time at the City Ground and signed for League 1 new boys Colchester United.

News from the official site says the deal is yet to be formally completed, but that he has agreed a two year deal with the U’s.

Lockwood signed from Orient less than a year ago and made only 12 appearances for Forest, after finding himself sidelined by the impressive form of Julian Bennett.

Although the move has been rumoured for several weeks, the player himself expressed last week that he would prefer a move to Southend, but that never materialised.

He signed with Forest for an undisclosed fee and he joins the U’s similarly. All the best to him. It’s a shame it never worked out.
