Nottingham Forest have today officially announced that they have accepted a bid for Mathew Lockwood, from Colchester United.

The Us have just been relegated from the Championship and manager Geraint Williams will be looking to bolster his leaky defence before the new season starts. The fee that has been agreed between the two clubs is believed to be £100,000.

Lockwood joined the Reds from Orient last summer for an undisclosed fee, but failed to make the same impact that made him a legend at Brisbane Road. He only made 12 appearances for Forest due to the form of Player of the Season Julian Bennett. It’s all up to the player now, to see if he can agree terms and finalise the move. Good luck to him whatever he decides, but it seems clear that he has no future at the City Ground.
