Nottingham Forest are in pole position to sign striker Fotis Ioannidis from Levadiakos, a report from Greek website SDNA has claimed.
Ioannidis, who scored five goals in 20 appearances in all competitions for the Greek second-tier club last season, was previously coached by Forest’s current head of international recruitment Jose Anigo, and it now seems as though a reunion could be on the cards for the pair.
According to the latest reports, Forest are keen to sign the striker this summer, as they look to strengthen their side ahead of another push for Premier League promotion next season.
It is thought that Forest are leading the race to sign Ioannidis, after offering better terms for the 20-year-old than Greek Super League outfit Panathinaikos.
However, taking to Twitter to react to these reports, a number of Forest fans appeared underwhelmed by these links, with many questioning Ioannidis’ suitability to lead the line for Sabri Lamouchi’s side.
Here, we take a look at what some of those supporters had to say.
So the club using Anigo as he has worked with the player regardless if his record of 5 in 20 at 2nd level. How many Greeks make it in our league or the Prem. There’s a reason so like others say, get those who have proved themselves in this league. Wallace, Grant, Freeman etc

Would prefer to see Britt and Burke back, Britt playing number 10 role and Grabban poaching close range, Burke flying down the wing and assisting would be nice to see, especially as going to lose Cash

Championship / Greek second division… it’s all the same I guess.

Let’s put this into perspective, #nffc have one of the best reputations for youth to first team. Youth team just won the league.
Oly I doubt even considers a youth set up, makes perfect sense to put him with us and then grab him on the cheap if he improves, zero risk for oly 🤦🏻— Real James Overton (@OvertonOfficial) August 8, 2020
Let’s hope not hardly appears to be the quality we need to support grabbs. Haven’t they forgotten the mistakes made over the last couple of seasons from our international recruitment team.
