Lennon Returns

Lennon was a surprise omission from the teamsheet against Oldham, especially after the rumours and counter rumours that were doing the rounds on the message boards before the game. Everything from a bust up with the manager to him walking out to manage Fester. Some feared it maybe a return of the depression he has been brave enough and open enough to talk about.

On Tuesday night though, Forest tried to quash the rumours by saying the player had a back strain, only for this statement to be revised the following day. In an official announcement the club said he’d gone back to Scotland for personal reasons.

Lennon’s agent Martin Reilly, today told the Nottingham Evening Post. “Neil will be back in Nottingham today, he has resolved all the problems that he had,”. This was never about any problems he had with Nottingham Forest, it was always about the family issue that he had to resolve. But, as I said, he is only interested in playing for Nottingham Forest and getting them in the Championship. That is his goal for the rest of the season, then we will look at the next step in the summer.”

This is hopefully an end to it all now and everyone hopes that Lennon now has his issues resolved. So long as this is the case, it has to be good news for the club and player alike. It should also end newspaper speculation about him becoming manager at Dunfermline, Fester or anywhere else. Welcome home Neil.
