It goes back to what I was saying yesterday.

Do you put the performance down as just ‘one of those days’ where you can dominate the game statistically and yet not actually manage to get anything from it, or do you think that there is something seriously wrong with the way Nottingham Forest have set up all season, and that this was just the best example of it?

Well according to former Nottingham Forest player Kenny Burns, it’s a little bit of both. Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live, Burns pointed out just how bad Forest were on Saturday, not just in regards their finishing, but also their ability to create chances as well:

“There’s two things that I hope Sabri Lamouchi had his Nottingham Forest players working on when they returned to training on Monday morning. The first would be learning how to cross a ball into the penalty box and miss out the first man, and the second is most certainly shooting practice. On Saturday, Forest created 32 attempts at goal and only two of them hit the target… Just let that sink in for a moment because that’s an incredible statistic.”

I think what Burns says is really a combination of the two points that I was talking about earlier.

Forest have been struggling for goals this season, demonstrated by the fact they currently lie joint 14th when it comes to the amount of goals scored this season, so this isn’t just a one game thing, however it’s something that has been plaguing Nottingham Forest all season, and something that really needs addressing as we approach the half way point of the campaign.

The question is, will that be done in the window, or will it be done on the training ground?

Whatever way they go about it let’s just make sure that these things don’t happen on a more regular basis, or the second half of the campaign could be a real struggle.
