New manager Aitor Karanka has called on the Nottingham Forest side to gain momentum when we face Aston Villa this weekend so we build properly on victory over Arsenal.

With a new man at the helm and a fantastic FA Cup four two victory over Arsenal behind us, Karanka told the media in his pre game press interviews yesterday that he wanted the side to keep the same level of intensity as they showed in the Cup when we face Steve Bruce’s side this weekend.

Speaking to the Official Forest Site he explained.

‘The result on Sunday can be used to build momentum but you also have to be wary that the team don’t think because they beat Arsenal they can just turn up and beat Aston Villa. They have to realise that to play against Villa, they have to fight with the same intensity as Villa are a good team and another big club. The players know they will have to fight at least to the same level that they did on Sunday.’

Karanka admitted that he was still in the process of getting to know the players properly following his appointment, but his short time in training so far had left him pleased given the attitude of the players and the way they had worked on things for him.

‘I will need to get to know the players more but the main thing is all about the attitude on the pitch. With the right attitude they beat Arsenal and if we play with that attitude then we will do well.’

He had also done his homework on both Forest and our Midlands neighbours as he pointed out that rarely in football, and probably only in the Championship, would you see two sides with European Cup wins to their name competing outside of a countries top flight.

‘It is the kind of game that you can find in the Championship; two former European Cup winners playing in the Championship. I think this is the only country where you will find that in the second tier. It is a big game against a big game but it is our first step and I would like to get the win in my first game.’
